Billing questions

How am I billed?
Once a year. It's an annual membership that renews automatically – you agree to that when you pay – and we'll remind you 30, 14 and 7 days before it does. That's all: we never chase.
What if my tree grows?
Keep your renewal date and only pay for the months you use; or start a fresh 12 months today – and get a 13th month on us, as a thank-you for growing with us. Your unused months are taken off too. (With 3 months or fewer left, the fresh 12 months is the way to upgrade.)
Can I pay for more than one year?
Yes: 3 or 5 years, 10% off.
Changed your mind?
Full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals too. After that there's no refund, but everything stays yours until your year ends.
Can the family help a tree grow?
Yes, they can chip in. Pay, from £5, then any whole amount: it goes straight into the tree's pot, which is used first when the tree renews. Everyone on the tree sees the running total, and anything over rolls on to next year. Or Promise, if the tree's owner has switched Promises on: only you and the owner see it, and you sort it out together.
Can I give a gift card?
Yes. The code must be used within 2 years; once added, the money never expires.
Can I share a link with friends?
Coming soon – share your tree love! Everyone gets their own referral link, free trees too – like mywholefamilytree.com/join/SALLY-OAK7. When a friend clicks it, your code is filled in for them, and they get 3 months extra free when they start a paid tree. For every friend who joins and pays, you get £1 / $1 / €1 credit in their own currency – it goes into your pot once their first 14 days have passed. Put it towards your own plan, or let five paying friends unlock every premium skin for good.
What happens if I stop signing in to a free tree?
Free trees are kept for 90 days after your last sign-in. We'll email you first, at 60 days and again at 80 – sign in and the clock resets.
